Craftly x The Art of African Fashion

A Limited Collection of Sustainable African Design — Featured at Skrapan Festival

At this year’s Skrapan Festival, we were honored to collaborate with The Art of African Fashion—a Stockholm-based curator showcasing handpicked pieces from Africa’s most visionary sustainable designers. Their pop-up presence brought something rare to our space: fashion that’s not just beautiful, but deeply thoughtful.

Each piece they shared—from structured Ghanaian jackets to hand-stitched accessories—carries with it a different kind of story. One rooted in sustainability, heritage, and resistance to fast fashion’s wasteful cycles.

Why this matters—especially now

Many of the featured designers in this year’s 2025 collection are based in Ghana, a country that’s become one of the largest recipients of the world’s discarded clothing. Every week, hundreds of tonnes of fast fashion end up in Ghana’s markets and landfills—destroying local economies and ecosystems.

This makes the work of these Ghanaian designers even more powerful: they’re reclaiming fashion on their terms.
They create limited-run collections that honour the planet and their cultural heritage using deadstock fabrics, locally woven textiles, and low-waste production methods.

A rare chance to shop consciously

Because these designers often work with what's available—deadstock fabrics, hand-dyed cloth, whatever they can source locally—each piece is made in short runs, sometimes only a handful at a time. It’s not about chasing trends or filling warehouses. It’s about using what’s already here and making it matter. That also means: when something sells out, it’s gone. And somehow, that makes it feel even more personal, like wearing something that wasn’t just made for you, but made with intention.
